Custom Builds

PROCESS –

A totally new custom yacht comes to us through one of two portals:

- from your visit to a design office or
- from direct contact with us.

In the first case, our client seeks out a designer whom he thinks will best create his dream.

In the second, you will have seen and admired our work on one of our custom boats and have us help chose the right designer to draw your boat.

In either case, your concept will most often go through several iterations until the team we create together – custom yacht builder, you and designer, are happy with the plan.

In this second pathway, we are involved early in the process and can really add value by helping you sort through your ideas and directing you to the right professionals.

DESIGN –

The next step for us is the engineering

and naval architecture – how the dream

becomes the “nuts and bolts” of reality –

that leads to a well balanced, good

performing, and handsome custom yacht.

Here once again our early involvement

saves time and expense. From experience,

we know what can be practically achieved

and what can be “out-side the box” costly.

MOCK UP –

It has been my experience, that for a

totallycustom yacht build you will

want to experience your dream

-concept in a series of mock-ups,

created from inexpensive materials

and not the high-value labor expected

in a custom yacht builder.

This process invites you to walk

through your boat to get a sense of

how it is laid out and how the spaces work.

Then, if changes need to be made,

it is all done before we begin building

with often exotic materials and

the labor of our skilled craftsmen.

CONSTRUCTION –

Once our team – you, the

client,the designer/architect

and your custom boat builder

– are satisfied that most all

the questions have been

solved and the details

addressed, we begin the

actual build.

Since the project is to be

a one-off creation and

there is likely no mold

or form to build from,

we carefully translate

plans to structure using

composite materials as

specified by the architect

and create the hull,

and superstructure.

While this work is in process others in

our shop are building the interior

bulkheads and furniture.

All along you are invited to visit

the process and remain involved

in the creation.

SEA TRIAL –

At the end of the build process,

your yacht will be launched

and tested first by me and my staff,

and when she is ready sea-trialed

by you, your family and any experts

you may have retained.

In all likelihood there will be

odds and ends to be attended

before we finally turn your

dream boat over to you.

For us the last and final phase of

the custom boat builders process

is the on-going relationship

between you and me, which may

include any warranty issues that

might arise often an ongoing

general maintenance and

service relationship.
